Sissi Vogler

Vienna, Austria

Refished is what happens when curiosity and conscience collide on the road. The brand was born in 2012, when Salzburg native Sissi Vogler took a career break to travel through Southeast Asia. Everywhere she went, she noticed the vibrant, durable fish feed and cement sacks used for everything from hauling rice to building supplies. The colors and textures were too striking to ignore—and far too beautiful to be destined for landfill. Back in Austria, Sissi began experimenting, turning these discarded sacks into bags and accessories that are as tough as they are eye-catching. The first upcycled collections—#CEMENT and #FISH—set the tone for a label that refuses to compromise on either ethics or style. Over the years, Refished has expanded to include collections made from Viennese museum banners and leftover cotton, always with a focus on fair, transparent production. What sets Refished apart is its radical transparency and personal touch: every product is signed by the person who made it, and the “People” section on their site introduces you to the tailors and team behind each bag. Production is split between Austria and Cambodia, where Refished partners with small workshops to ensure fair wages and safe working conditions. The result is a collection of unique, upcycled bags and accessories that tell a story of transformation—of materials, of livelihoods, and of what’s possible when fashion is approached with both imagination and heart. For Sissi and her team, style and ethics are never a contradiction. Each Refished piece is a small act of resistance against waste and a celebration of the hands that made it—proof that conscious design can be as joyful as it is responsible.
