Mate Ceramics is the work of Marie Technau—a designer who traded the fast pace of digital communication for the slow, grounding world of clay. Originally from Germany and now based just inland from Ericeira, Portugal, Marie crafts each piece by hand, letting intuition and touch guide the process. Her ceramics aren’t just objects; they’re companions for daily life, meant to be held, used, and woven into new stories with every meal or ritual. Marie’s background in design is evident in the clean lines and thoughtful forms of her work, but it’s the individuality of each vessel—the subtle imprints of the maker’s hand, the evolving surface, the sense of presence—that sets Mate Ceramics apart. Every mug, bowl, or plate is made to inspire a deeper appreciation for simple moments, carrying the essence of both artistry and utility. Beyond her own label, Marie co-founded the Keramik Club in 2023 with Franziska Nebel, creating a space for community, creativity, and the joy of slowing down. Through workshops and shared studio time, she invites others to discover the meditative rhythm and quiet satisfaction of making by hand.
