Botica Amano is where Portugal’s centuries-old ceramic tradition meets the clarity of modern design. Founded and run by Alex and Sílvia in Barcelos—a town renowned for its craft heritage—Botica Amano is as much about community as it is about clay. Every plate, bowl, and vase begins in the hands of local artisans: family-run workshops, each with no more than forty employees, where knowledge is passed down and every detail matters. The studio’s philosophy is rooted in partnership and proximity. All makers, from potters to packaging suppliers, are located within 25 kilometers of Botica Amano’s headquarters, supporting the local economy and minimizing transport. Production is strictly small-batch and fair—each piece is shaped, glazed, and fired using traditional techniques, with every stage checked for quality and character. Sustainability is woven through every step: local clay, natural glazes, zero waste in manufacturing, and fully recyclable, biodegradable packaging. Botica Amano’s designs are inspired by the coastal landscapes and maritime light of northern Portugal, blending soft, natural colors and textures with the clean lines of Nordic minimalism. The result is tableware and home objects that feel timeless, tactile, and quietly expressive—objects that invite you to slow down and savor the everyday. For Alex and Sílvia, true beauty lies in simplicity, intention, and connection—to place, to people, and to the stories that handmade things carry.
